Spiti Valley is one of India's most dramatic landscapes — a cold desert plateau in Himachal Pradesh sitting between 3,800 m and 4,500 m above sea level. This circuit takes you through Key Monastery, Kaza, Chandratal Lake, Tabo, and Dhankar. Best suited for adventure lovers who don't mind long mountain drives and basic but soulful accommodation.

Leave from Delhi to Shimla

Begin the trip from Delhi and travel towards Shimla for your first mountain halt.

Accommodation: Homestays and camps are basic but comfortable, and 5-star stays are not part of Spiti routes.

It's a moderate-difficult trip. Good physical fitness is recommended. Not ideal for very young children or elderly with health conditions.

Very limited. BSNL works in some areas. Expect to be offline for most of the circuit — that's part of the magic.

When is the best time to visit Spiti?
June to October is the travel window. July–August is the most popular, September is quieter and equally beautiful.
